強大「極地渦漩」(Polar Vortex)近期襲擊北美洲，各地氣溫屢探新低，甚至連有世界最大瀑布之稱的「尼加拉大瀑布」(Niagara Falls)都凍結成冰。
根據英國《每日郵報》(Daily Mail)報導，位於北美洲五大湖區的尼加拉大瀑布原本浩瀚奔騰，但近兩日也因抵擋不住這波低溫風暴而結冰。
報導指出，尼加拉大瀑布凍結後的景象壯觀到令人震驚，吸引不少遊客與攝影愛好者前往朝聖，將極其罕見的景象捕捉下來。
另外，據英國《太陽報》報導指出，此次尼加拉大瀑布凍結成冰，是有文獻記載以來的第7次。
